The SPINAL SAFARI
A number of not-for-profit organisations such as the Variety Club and the Royal Flying Doctor Service have run non-competitive car rallies or a “Bash” for many years and raise over $1.5 million each year for their various causes.
The Society has the opportunity to organise a similar fundraiser to support the establishment and operation of our dedicated spinal research/neurological regeneration research laboratory. Our ultimate target would be to raise $1 million each year through this event.
These events are extremely popular and in demand amongst people who own roadworthy vehicles over 25 years old and are looking for a challenge as well as an opportunity to explore outback Australia while raising money for a good cause. We are planning our first bash from Melbourne/Sydney to the Red Centre, a distance of about 3,000km along some of the country’s most famous outback tracks.
We are in the initial stages of planning the event which will take place in June - August 2008 timeframe and are looking for people who have experience in organising these events or can help in any way. Please contact Alan Bowden on 0414 333 299 or email info@spinalcordsociety.org – would like to hear from you!
